​Base of a 9th Century Saxon Cross

This Saxon cross base was found, built into the wall of Elstow Abbey (used as a building block!) during the 1880s restoration.

These beautiful examples of Bedfordshire lace were produced for Moot Hall by Elstow resident Sandra King, who is also a member of Aragon Lacemakers.
​Visit Moot Hall to see a superb example of Aragon's work - a model of John Bunyan's cottage.

Other Exhibits

Proclamation outlawing conventicles. Note; This was not made law until after Bunyan was imprisoned. (He was held on charges of preaching without a licence.)
