High Street & Thomas James Close
High Street
The photographs in this album start at the north-easternmost point of High Street and take you on a journey southwards to where High Street ends and becomes Wilstead Road.
There are only a few photos in this album of Bunyan's Mead, Pilgrim House and The Swan - just enough to show you where those places are located - as these three locations have their own dedicated pages: Bunyan's Mead Pilgrim House The Swan

Thomas James Close
Thomas James was the second headmaster of the original Elstow school and held the post at the beginning of the 20th century. He raised the standards of the school to a high level and so was commemorated when the site was redeveloped in 2016.
The original classrooms on the west side of the site were converted into maisonettes - see photos in the album above - and each is named as a 'Classroom', rather than a 'flat'.
The former school's drive and car park was converted into a proper Roadway and extended across the former playground, to serve 14 new houses built behind the original school, mainly on the footprints of redbrick buildings that formerly stood behind the main school building. People began moving in to the houses and 'classrooms' during late 2016 and early 2017.
Much of the former school playground was retained to form open spaces which, as you will see from the photos below, are put to good use - on the first bonfire night, the whole of this small community came together, pooling fireworks, to create a long and impressive display. One would imagine that Thomas James would be pleased to see all the children enjoying this event.
